The 2007 Basingstoke and Deane Council election took place on 3 May 2007 to elect members of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in Hampshire, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Conservative party stayed in overall control of the council. After the election, the composition of the council was *Conservative 31 *Liberal Democrats 15 *Labour 11 *Independent 3 ==Background== The Conservative party had run the council since the 2006 election and won an overall majority for the first time in 11 years after gaining a seat in a by-election in Buckskin from Labour in December 2006.
